The Dickinson County Survivors of Suicide Support group will meet on Tuessday, December 11 at 7 p.m.CT in the Dickinson County Hospital Chapel. Book Signing Dec. 5

Author Catherine Been Hansen of Skanee will sign copies of her books on Wednesday, December 5 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the L’Anse Area Schools Public Library. At age 97, Hansen recently had her fourth book of poetry published. “Gleanings” is a compilation of works of compassionate and descriptive verse created both in her idealistic youth and written in the perceptiveness of her maturity. Proceeds from the sale of “Gleanings” will be contributed to the Ina McClintock and Olof Been Scholarship Fund of the Baraga County Community Foundation.

Peter White Public Library Holiday Open House Dec. 2

Peter White Public Library will host its annual holiday open house on Sunday, December 2 from 1 to 4 p.m. This event will feature the debut of the 2007 Winter Wonderland Walk of trees. More than 35 community groups, families and individuals have decorated themed holiday trees that will be on display at the library through December. Homemade refreshments will be served and Christmas music will be performed by the Marquette Senior High School String Quartet.

Variety Christmas Show Dec. 2

Mitchell United Methodist Church in Negaunee will host a Christmas variety show on Sunday, December 2 at 7 p.m. The show will feature holiday comedy skits from “A Prairie Home Companion” and musical entertainment from Men Singing Gospel. Santa's Arrival and Christmas Tree Lighting in Munising Dec. 7

Downtown Munising will welcome Santa and hold a Community Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, December 7. The Santa Parade will begin at 5 p.m. at the Munising Community Credit Union and proceed down Superior Street to People's State Bank. There will be music by the Munising Band, caroling with the Vanguards, refreshments and free photos with Santa for the kids in the lobby of the People's State Bank Building. A Community Christmas Tree Lighting will take place at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Bring your family and take a ride on a horse-drawn wagon. The event is being sponsored by the Munising downtown businesses.
