M-TEC at Bay College’s Essentials in Human Resource Management Certificate program begins February 27. The program is designed to provide participants with the necessary tools to meet the needs of growing businesses in the Upper Peninsula. Participation is appropriate for both newcomers to the human resources field and those with some experience who are seeking to keep current in the field or expand their knowledge base.
The program consists of five workshops that will be delivered on Wednesdays over the next few months. The workshop, Employee Selection and Beyond, will begin the series and be held on February 27 from 9 am – 1 pm at M-TEC. This workshop will examine all stages of the employment process. Upon completion, participants will be able to: understand critical factors to consider when hiring, including non-discrimination; recognize the value of defining the job accurately; learn behavioral interview techniques; and improve the company’s staffing function and overall selection process.
The remaining four workshops that complete the HRM series and their scheduled dates are: Employee Orientation, Recordkeeping & Retention (Mar. 13), Employee Relations & Performance Management (Mar. 27), Working Within the Law (Apr. 10) and Harassment Prevention in the Workplace (Apr. 24).
Fee to attend the February 27 workshop is $145. To enroll in the entire program the cost is $785.
