Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry Drops Lawsuit Against Mackinac Island

(MARQUETTE) – Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry has dismissed its lawsuit against the City of Mackinac Island and their complaint with the Michigan Public Service Commission. Shepler’s launched a lawsuit against the city and a competing ferry company, which was formed when two other ferry companies joined together to form one large operation. Shepler’s legal challenge accused them of trying to run them out of business.

According to company owner and operator, Chris Shepler, the lawsuits and formal complaints were dropped yesterday without prejudice, meaning that the litigation may be re-opened at any time. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Great Lakes Radio News, Shepler says he is more interested in getting back to business for the season.

A franchise agreement with Mackinac Island was granted to Shepler’s last month.
