TRUTH IN SENTENCING CONTROVERSY 1/21/10

Matt Wiese, Assistant Prosecutor of Marquette County joined us to discuss a possible change in Michigan’s Truth in Sentencing Law. The law currently insures that when a criminal is sent behind bars for a sentence, he or she will have to serve the minimum sentence imposed by the judge before becoming eligible for any consideration for parole or other early release. Now, there is a movement afoot to abolish the measure, much to the chagrin of law enforcement and prosecutors around the state.
