Marquette – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will host an Upper Peninsula Brain Tumor Center presentation on glioblastoma on Thursday, January 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Shiras Room of the Peter White Public Library.
The talk will explore research into factors that make the cancer more resistant to treatment, more likely to recur and better able to evade the immune system. Glioblastoma is one of the most common types of malignant brain tumors among adults. Presenters include Robert Belton, NMU biology professor and research director of the UPBTC; Sonia Geschwindt, neurosurgeon at the UPHS brain and spine center and clinical director of UPBTC; and NMU students who will share their research experiences and discuss how it prepares them for their careers.
There is no cost to attend. Register by Monday, January 1 by calling 227-2979. Contact Sally Olsen at 226-8347 for more information.
