Marquette – The Chocolay Raptor Center will release two rehabilitated American Kestrels back to the wild on Wednesday, August 16 at 3 p.m. at Gentz’s Homestead Golf Course in Beaver Grove.
American Kestrels are the smallest falcons in North America. These two birds, a male and a female, were brought to the Chocolay Raptor Center as tiny chicks, still in pin feathers. For the last week they have been demonstrating their ample flight abilities, including hunting live crickets. They are ready to go. Phoenix, the peregrine falcon, will be there to support his cousins and present a short program on falcons. All are invited and there is no charge.
