Historical Marquette Bus Tours – Summer 2014, Starting July 9th

MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – Take an entertaining, narrated journey through Marquette. Hear the stories of colorful characters and their time in our Queen City of the North. Travel through multiple decades while meeting both every day folks and celebrities that walked the shores and streets of town, from J.M. Longyear and a U.S. President to a ship captain and a traveling nurse. The Historical Bus Tours are a great way to see the town as it is today, while reflecting on the early days of bustling Marquette. Eight tours to choose from this summer. Advance ticket purchase recommended. Tickets available at marquettehistory.org or by calling 906.226.3571.

Tickets for all tours are $15, limited seating available. All tours embark from the History Center; arrive ten minutes early to claim your seat. Travel in an air conditioned Checker Bus for the duration of the tour: 90 minutes.

Wed. July 9 and Tues. July 22 at 1:00 pm
Thurs. July 17, Wed. July 23 and Wed. July 30 at 6:00 pm

Mon. August 4 and Wed. August 13 at 1:00 pm
Wed. August 6 at 6:00 pm

Tour Route: Travel on in the comfort of a Checker Bus:
The bus tour will start on Spring Street at the Marquette Regional History Center. We will travel through the historic downtown business district to Lower Harbor and the still standing DSS&A Ore Dock #6. We continue through town to the Historic Ridge District, touching on historic homes. Highlighting downtown parks, churches, and notable sites our tour will continue out to the hospital and Presque Isle, turning around at the operating LS&I Ore Dock and over the Dead River for our return trip to the History Center.
