MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – Peter White Public Library invites film fans to a BYO Dinner Theater event on Tuesday July 15 at 5:30 pm to experience a screening of “12 Years a Slave” in the library’s Community room.
Based on an incredible true story of one man’s fight for survival and freedom, this powerful film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lupita Nyongo, Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt.
In the pre-Civil War United States, Solomon Northup, a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. Facing cruelty, as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity. In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon’s chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist will forever alter his life.
Three time Academy Award winner, including Best Picture, “12 Years a Slave” was released in 2013, is rated R and runs for 134 minutes.
