MARQUETTE – Lake Superior Theatre will be holding auditions for the Summer 2014 Season which includes productions of “Pippin” directed by Dave Dagenais, “I Do! I Do!” directed by Moire Embley. The casting calls for both male and female roles from ages 16 to 105., we are looking for a mature cast for both “Pippin” and “I Do, I Do”.
Audition times are as follows: 6:30-8:30 on April 7th and 8th at Graveraet School, 611 N. Front St., Marquette, MI. Those auditioning are asked to sign up for a time at http://www.mysignup.com/lstauditions2014 or call (906) 362-6453. Walk-ins are also welcome without an appointment. Those who need to audition at another time are asked to contact Nikke Nason at (906) 362-6453 or lstmqt@gmail.com before auditions to set up an alternate time or send in a video audition or skype audition.
Callbacks will occur on April 9th along with the dance portion of the auditions. A pianist will be available at the auditions. Those auditioning are asked to sing a 90 second cutting of a show tune or broadway style song and a prepared monologue or a cold reading provided at auditions. Scenes will also be available for cold readings. Resume/headshot encouraged.
“Pippin” tells the story of the heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father King Charlemagne the Great). In the end, though, Pippin finds happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather the un-extraordinary moments that happen every day. The cast features 11-20 men and women in both musical and dancing roles.
“I Do, I Do” features a cast of 2-6 men and women. The show with Michael and Agnes on their wedding day. Their vows behind them, they look forward to spending the rest of their lives together. We watch as they go through their wedding night jitters, raise a family, and negotiate mid-life crises. Michael eventually admits to his infidelity, and although Agnes is angered by his actions, she forgives him and the couple reconciles. They re-discover how much they really need each other. Then, after 50 years of marriage, the couple leaves their house to the next pair of newlyweds.
