Marquette, MI — Shakespeare Readers will meet on Wednesday, October 2 at 6:30 pm in the Peter White Public Library’s Shiras Room for a reading of “Pericles, Prince of Tyre.”
Probably written in 1607 after the powerful dramas of Hamlet, Macbeth, and Othello, Pericles, is a story of families fragmented by shipwreck and mistaken deaths. Pericles correctly guesses that Antiochus is involved in an incestuous affair with his daughter and Antiochus realizes that Pericles knows it. His life in danger, Pericles escapes the wrath of the father by setting sail for home. On the way, the boat is shipwrecked, and only Pericles survives.
Shakespeare Readers is a group for anyone who is intrigued with reading the works of William Shakespeare. They meet on the first Wednesday of each month and new readers are always welcome.
