Public Farewell Mass and Reception for Archbishop Sample to be Held on March 17

Marquette, Michigan – Everyone is invited to a special celebration to say goodbye to Archbishop Alexander K. Sample and wish him well as he prepares to leave the Catholic Diocese of Marquette for the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon. This public farewell for Archbishop Sample will be held on Sunday, March 17, at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette. It will begin with Mass at 3 p.m. ET, followed by a light reception in the Cathedral Hall. No tickets or registrations are required.

Archbishop Sample will be installed as Archbishop of Portland in Oregon on Tuesday, April 2. The Vatican announced his appointment on January 29. Archbishop Sample, who was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Marquette in 1990, has served as bishop of the diocese for the past seven years.
