Organizers of the 18th annual Lake Superior Shore Run, to benefit the Superiorland Ski Club youth
programs, are looking for volunteers and participants on race day, set for September 22, 2012. New this year, run for a chance to win one of eight year-long memberships to CrossFit Marquette! The Shore Run features a challenging half-marathon, a 5k run/walk and 1k kids’ race.
The half-marathon follows a scenic wooded course that culminates with a very picturesque stretch along Lake Superior’s coast, from Wetmore Landing to Little Presque Isle. The course winds from the beach to the top of Bareback Ridge, high above Lake Superior, and down again across rugged terrain. In contrast, the 5k run/walk and 1k kids’ race courses are flat, fast courses that wind through the woods within
the Little Presque Isle Recreation Area.
All proceeds from the Shore Run races benefit the Superiorland Ski Club Youth Programs. In keeping with that goal the Kids’ Race is free! Prizes will be awarded to the top three overall male and female
winners in each race and the top three male and female age group winners.
Get a group of friends or co-workers together for the team competition. The largest and fastest teams will receive $100*,(or prizes valued at $100) The first 300 pre-registrants will receive performance fabric shirts, so sign up early.
To register, go to the club website, www.superiorlandskiclub.com, or e-mail Jenifer Kilpela at eniferkilpela@yahoo.com
The Superiorland Ski Club offers cross country ski programs for all skiers, from the smallest children to adults. In 2011, 120 kids took part in Ski Cats, the Adventure Club, Prep Team and/or Race Team youth programs.
