Covington – The U.P. Made Artist Market will open for the summer/fall season on Friday, May 6 in the historic two-room Covington School in Covington.
The market, sponsored by the non-profit Community Women’s Group, features an art gallery and market set against the backdrop of a historic schoolroom setting. Market hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with visits during other hours arranged by request.
Items for sale include paintings, wood carvings, soaps, candles, photography, watercolor and acrylic paintings, turned bowls, jewelry, loom rugs jellies, syrups, an antique corner and a Christmas section. Market items are also available for purchase online at www.upmadeartistmarket.com. Commission from sales helps provides donations to local service organizations.
Area artists and fine crafters are encouraged to submit their work. Though some artists volunteer to work, the market is not a co-op and there is no mandatory monthly fee; artists may be offered a reduced commission fee in exchange for working one day a month.
