Marquette – Author Valerie Bradley-Holliday will speak on African-descended pioneers in the Upper Peninsula on Wednesday, November 4 at 7 p.m. in the Shiras Room of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.
Bradley-Holliday is the author of “Northern Roots,” a history of African American settlers and how they survived by working in lumber, mining, hunting, fishing, education and sports.
Bradley-Holliday will discuss her continuing research, focusing on the positive impact African Americans have made in the Upper Peninsula. She will sign books after the presentation.
