Marquette – The First Presbyterian Church will host its ninth annual Victorian-style Valentine’s tea on Saturday, February 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at 120 N. Front Street, Marquette.
This year’s theme is “Crystal Palace – Inspiration and Splendor.”
Entry hall display cases will feature authentic artifacts and reproductions of the British Empire’s world-acclaimed Great Exhibition of 1851, including authentic artifacts, facsimilies and jewelry evocative of the dynasty of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, with an emphasis on crystal decor.
Also featured will be fine china, table linens, decorative brass, and silver serving pieces, all enhanced by candlelight. Guests may bring historical keepsakes and/or wear authentic or reproduction fashion items representative of the Victorian era. Prizes will be awarded.
Donations will be accepted to benefit orphaned children cared for by First Presbyterian’s sister church, St. Andrew’s in Nairobi, Kenya. Park in the Bluff Street lot.
