Marquette – The U.P. Volunteer Network will lead a Tackle Hunger food drive in honor of the second annual September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.
Donations can be dropped off Monday through Friday, September 6 through 10 at the YMCA’s Vandenboom location at 1175 Erie Avenue, Marquette.
On Saturday, September 11, donations will be accepted from noon to 5 p.m. at the Y’s Pine Street location and at the Peter White Public Library.
Community members are encouraged to donate items to the Tackle Hunger food drive to honor the victims and heroes of 9/11. The food will be donated to the Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank and the Salvation Army of Marquette Food Bank.
All packaging must be intact and without dents; no glass containers will be accepted. Suggested donations include canned fruits and vegetables, boxed dinners such as macaroni and cheese, cereals, pastas, rice and bulk items such as beans or peas.
