Marquette – Tomoko Inoue, Great Lakes Center for youth development cultural program associate, will teach classes on Japanese culture and art in a free, four week seminar at the Marquette Arts and Culture Center, in the Peter White Public Library. Classes for third through fifth grade students will meet on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. beginning on January 13.
Students will learn basic Japanese words, how to eat with chopsticks, how to write their name in Japanese calligraphy, how to create beautiful shapes using origami, and get a taste of Japanese food. The same class for grades six through 12 will be offered on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. beginning March 3. Class size is limited to 15 students.
