This Week 10/13-10/18:

School’s Out, Library’s In: Minecraft!
Monday October 13, 2025. 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Peter White Public Library Lower Level. Come have fun at the library for some Minecraft themed fun for kids of all ages! The new “A Minecraft Movie” will begin at 12:45pm in the Community Room – popcorn provided during the movie (or kids are welcome to bring a snack or lunch) and make Minecraft Self Portraits while you watch the movie! Drop-in activities will run from 12-5 in the kids’ room, including LEGO building Minecraft style in the Makerspace and building with big blocks in the Great Room. No admission charge. Muggles for Potter Grades 3-6

Friend-raiser Preminger Directs Marquette:  Daniel Rydholm Presentation
Tuesday, October 14, 2025.  6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.  Peter White Public Library Community Room.  Adults, Seniors, Teens.  For this special Friend-raiser event, local historian and cinephile Daniel Rydholm discusses Otto Preminger on the occasion of the great movie director’s 120th birthday.  Rydholm tells stories of Preminger’s life, career, and time in the Upper Peninsula filming the acclaimed courtroom drama Anatomy of a Murder.  PLEASE NOTE:  This is a ticketed event.  Tickets are $5 and can be picked up at the Circulation Desk starting Thursday, September 18, 2025.  You must have a ticket in order to attend the event.  The event will also be livestreamed on Peter White Public Library’s YouTube channel.   For more information, contact Marty at 226-4322, machatz@pwpl.info, or visit pwpl.info.

Repair Cafe
Saturday, October 18, 2025. 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Peter White Public Library Huron Mountain Club Gallery. Toss it? No way! The Repair Café is back thanks to a partnership with the Marquette Sustainability Coalition. Bring in broken household goods such as appliances, clothing, or bikes and skilled fixers will assist you in repairing them. This is a great way to save money, learn valuable repair skills, and reduce your environmental impact. No admission charge. Cyber Clinic Series: Stay Safe from Spam and Scams
Monday, October 20, 2025. 5:00 p..m – 6:00 p.m.  Peter White Public Library Heritage Room.  Peter White Public Library is partnering with the Upper Peninsula Cybersecurity Institute to bring the Marquette community authoritative and up-to-date information about computer and internet safety through our program series, Cyber Clinic.  Learn how to protect yourself from online scams, fake emails and unwanted messages.  We will cover the warning signs to watch for, how to keep your accounts secure, and what to do if something seems suspicious.  Not technical background needed, just real-world tips you can use right away.  No admission charge.  For more information and to check the status of this program, call 906-226-4311 or email refdesk@pwpl.info.

Writers on Writing:  Keith Taylor
Wednesday, October 22, 2025.  12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Peter White Public Library Shiras Room.  Adults, Seniors, Teens.  In this new programming series, seasoned published authors of various genres lead participants through writing exercises and workshops to hone their writerly talents.  October’s Writer:  Keith Taylor.  The author of Ecstatic Destinations and What Can The Matter Be?, Keith Taylor is a Michigan Notable Book Award winner and seasoned poet whose work captures the essence of the natural world. Space is limited to 15 participants, so register early.  No admission charge.  For more information, contact Marty at 226-4322, machatz@pwpl.info, or visit pwpl.info.
