Traffic Shift at US-41/M-28 Roundabout Project in Ishpeming Begins July 9

ISHPEMING, MI –

Starting Tuesday, July 9, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will change the traffic configuration at the US-41/M-28 and Lakeshore Drive roundabout project in Ishpeming.

Westbound traffic will move to the outside westbound lane, and eastbound traffic will shift to the outside eastbound lane. This initial stage will last about one day. Turns from US-41/M-28 onto South Lakeshore Drive will be prohibited, with a detour in place, and the Lakeshore Drive signal will be deactivated.

Following this, US-41/M-28 traffic will shift to one lane in each direction on the north side of the highway, potentially starting later on July 9 or on July 10. No turns will be allowed at North or South Lakeshore Drive, and detours will remain. This configuration is expected to continue until mid-September.

Motorists should drive cautiously and expect delays in the work zone during these traffic shifts.
