Heikki Lunta Winter Festival in Negaunee has really sprung up in the last couple of years, and this year on Friday, February 3rd, at 5pm, marks their second year of holding the Irontown Rail Jam on Iron Street! A rail jam is a DIY terrain park built for skiers and snowboarders to showcase who’s got the best shred on street style features. Features like pipes, rails, and some diy creations. This is an event you don’t want to miss. The folks who build the park are some of the same people who participate, and when you know the features that well there are bound to be some gnarly rail rides.
If you’d like to enter the Irontown Rail Jam for yourself you’ll need to provide the $20 entrance fee, a liability waiver signature (parent’s signature if you’re under 18), and a helmet to wear during your runs. The competitive event starts at 6pm with the top three men and women in separate ski and board categories winning cash prizes. If you’ve got $10 and want to ride the routes for fun, get there by 5pm – 5:45pm before the competition starts. This year’s Irontown Rail Jam is shaping up to be better than ever. So, grab a friend and come out to Iron Street in Negaunee. Attendance is free!!!
