Marquette, MI – January 26, 2023 –
Today, tomorrow, and the day after all stand to embody the classic Upper Peninsula winter.
Starting with today, Thursday, we can count on some spotty snowfall this morning into the afternoon. Although, the wind is coming in to compliment that precipitation. 5 – 15mph winds with gusts up to 20mph out of the North. You know what that means. Wind that cuts like a knife.
Which brings us into Friday. Friday, we can expect more snow than today in the morning into the afternoon. The NOAA states that there is a 70% chance of flying flakes. The real kicker is the possibility for 40mph gusts, from the South to West, that will potentially bring temps down further than we’ve seen all of 2023. NOAA states the wind chill could reach -5 degrees Fahrenheit.
Finally, Saturday we can expect 30% chance of snow showers throughout Marquette with the wind calming down and shifting NW.
All this snow, and drop in temperatures, should make for some interesting conditions. Be sure to drive in safely, and always be prepared with emergency items in your vehicle, or on your person. You definitely don’t want to be caught in 40mph winter gusts without the proper winter gear.
However, if winter adventure is the name of the game, these flurries and temp. drops could make for some good fun and challenge out there in your favorite winter sport. Just come prepared for the worst.

Of course, the forecast is always subject to change here on the big lake.
