The Forsyth Township Historical Society will present “We Kept Our Towns Going: The Gossard Girls of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula” with author, Phyllis Wong, on Tuesday, April 12 at the Gwinn High School library in Gwinn.
From the 1920’s to the 1970’s the HW Gossard Company maintained garment factories in Ishpeming and Gwinn. Mrs. Wong’s book tells the story of the local women who worked there and the impact their work had on their families, communities, and women in the workplace. The program will start at 7 pm and is open to the public. Admission is free to Society members and students and $2.00 for others. Refreshments will be served. Copies of Mrs. Wong’s book will be available for purchase at the event, courtesy of the NMU Bookstore. For more information contact Rick Wills at 906-346-5413 or by email at rpwills@yahoo.com |
