City Manager Nate Heffron is pleased to announce the appointment of Pat Ketola as the City of Negaunee’s Interim Police Chief, effective today at 3:00PM.
Chief Ketola, holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Northern Michigan University which he obtained in 1999. Ketola has worked for the City of Negaunee’s Police Department for the past 20 years, thirteen of which as a Sergeant. “I want to welcome Chief Ketola in his new role as Interim Chief of Police and wish him all the best as he settles in”, Heffron said.
Chief Ketola will be replacing long-time Chief, Jay Frusti, who reached his retirement eligibility in 2019. Frusti has served the Negaunee Police Department for 25-years, the last 15 as Chief. “I thank the City of Negaunee for the opportunity to serve this community, my experience here has been very rewarding”, Frusti said. “Chief Frusti has served this community with great dignity and will be deeply missed, I wish him well on his retirement”, Heffron Said.
According to Heffron, he intends on having the interim position in place for one-year, before he decides to fill the position permanently. “Everyone needs time to transition into an administrative role, I believe that Chief Ketola’s previous experience as Sergeant will aid him during this process”, stated Heffron.
