Negaunee, MI – The Michigan Iron Industry Museum will host Iron Ore Heritage Trail Bike Tours throughout July. The 15-mile leisurely tour will take you about 5 hours, including a stop for lunch at the Midtown Bakery and Cafe and several breaks along the way. NCLL Hosts Author John Smolens

Marquette, MI – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning (NCLL) presents “An Afternoon with Author John Smolens” from 4-6 pm on Thursday, July 18th, at 216 E. Hewitt St. in Marquette.

Smolens will give a presentation on his latest book, Out, the sequel to his internationally acclaimed novel Cold. Set in the Upper Peninsula, Out finds the former constable Del Maki recovering from surgery and haunted by the recent loss of his wife. His house, set deep in the woods of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, becomes a haven for refugees during a fierce blizzard.

The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning is organized by and primarily for actively engaged seniors interested in pursuing intellectual, recreational, and/or social activities. Marquette Symphony Orchestra Summer Strings Free Children’s Concert July 10

Marquette, MI – The Marquette Symphony Orchestra Summer Strings will perform a children’s concert on Wednesday, July 10 at 6:00 pm in the Peter White Public Library Community Room. The performance, in partnership with the library’s youth services department, is sponsored by Marquette Breakfast Rotary.

Selections include Carnival of the Animals, Over the Rainbow, Let it Go, Spring and Theme from Spiderman. Jim Edwards from the U.P. Children’s Museum will join the MSO as a guest narrator.

All MSO Summer Strings performances are free of charge and feature members of the Marquette Symphony Orchestra strings section. All ages are welcome.

The MSO Summer Strings will also perform Wednesday, July 24 at 6:00 pm at Ore Dock Brewing Company.
