Pine Mountain Music Festival Starts June 17th

Iron Mountain, MI – The Pine Mountain Music Festival kicks off this Monday, June 17th at Iron Mountain High School with Moira Smiley and Jefferson Hamer. The show begins at 7:30 pm.

The festival tours throughout the Upper Peninsula and begins June 17th with the performance in Iron Mountain and goes through June 30th. Featured musicians will be in Marquette, Calumet, and Houghton as well.

City of Negaunee Closes Section of Iron St.

Negaunee, MI – At the June 13th 2019 City Council Meeting for the City of Negaunee, the City Council passed a motion that subsequently will close Iron St directly in front of the Kirkwood block due to structural instability that threatens the safety of the general public.

This closure will be effective immediately and will include the North sidewalk, North Parking area and the North Traffic Lane. The City and its staff are following all proper procedures to ensure the Kirkwood building will be no longer be a threat to the safety of the public in a timely manner.

NMU Among Top 50 for Education Majors

Marquette, MI – Northern Michigan University ranks 43rd among the nation’s “50 Best Colleges for Education Majors” identified by

“This ranking looks at accessibility and affordability relative to the U.S. Department of Education and Michigan Department of Education outcomes we report through trusted systems,” said Joe Lubig, associate dean of the NMU School of Education, Leadership and Public Service. “I am so proud of what we do and the integrity with which we do it. People can’t believe the level of engagement we have with our schools, community and alumni. Sustaining those relationships to maintain a high-level program takes so much work on the part of our faculty.”

NMU offers bachelor’s degrees in elementary and secondary education in several focus areas, as well as a master’s degree with a variety of concentrations.’s description praises NMU for giving students at least one “intense” semester of real-world teaching experience, either in Michigan or internationally. It also states that, through the Michigan Student Council for Exceptional Children and the Student Michigan Education Association, NMU helps connect students and teachers to foster a collaborative learning environment.

Michigan Iron Industry Museum Antique Automobile Exhibit June 16th

Negaunee, MI – Michigan Iron Industry Museum will present its Iron, Steel and the Automobile Exhibit on Sunday, June 16th, 2019 from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the Michigan Iron Industry Museum, 73 Forge Rd., Negaunee, MI 49866.

Enjoy a stroll around the grounds of the Michigan Iron Industry Museum for one of the Upper Peninsula’s premiere auto shows. The 30th annual presentation features more than 50 vintage cars and light trucks from the 1910s through 1969. Also enjoy live jazz and swing from the Bluffs Orchestra and refreshments.

There is a $3 suggested parking donation for the event.

Funday Sunday Concert Series June 16th

Bark River, MI – Northern Sun Winery is hosting Small Potatoes on Sunday, June 16th. Minimum ticket donation is $10 in advance and $15 at the door and include a vineyard and wine cellar tour at 3 pm ET, two wine samples and music at 4 pm.
