Non-resident Elementary Schools of Choice

Marquette, MINovember 15, 2018 – Marquette Area Public Schools announces Elementary School of Choice openings for non-residents in grades K-5 as follows:

Cherry Creek Elementary Openings in Grades 1, 3 and 4

Graveraet Elementary Openings in Grades 1, 2, 4 and 5

Sandy Knoll Elementary Openings in Grades 1 and 5

Superior Hills Elementary Openings in Grades K, 1, 2, 4 and 5

Application forms may be obtained at any MAPS elementary building, at the Superintendent’s office, or downloaded from the website.

Completed application forms will be accepted from Friday, November 16 through Friday, November 30, 2018. The enrollment deadline for students accepted under the School of Choice program is Friday, December 7, 2018.

Students must reside within the Marquette-Alger RESA to be eligible for School of Choice at MAPS. If you have questions, please call 906-225-4200.… Read the rest

Marquette Mountain Helmet Giveaway

Marquette, MINovember 15, 2018 – Marquette Mountain is scheduled to give away fitted helmets on Sunday, November 18th at 1:00 pm to the first 150 children who register for the Helmet Head Club during an event at the mountain sponsored by Upper Peninsula Health Plan, Eagle Mine and Upper Peninsula Health Systems of Marquette.

The event is brought to you by employees and volunteers from Marquette Mountain, Marquette Mountain Ski Patrol, Northern Michigan University Ski & Snowboard Club, NMU Athletic Trainers, UPHP, and UPHS.

The Helmet Head Project, previously called Heads U.P. on Safety, will educate kids and families on the benefits of wearing a properly fitted helmet. The first 150 kids 17 years or younger who register for the Helmet Head Club at the event will receive a fitted helmet. All children who participate in the event will receive a Helmet Head sticker and become an official member of the Helmet Head Club.… Read the rest

Marquette, MINovember 15, 2018 – On November 22nd, Thanksgiving Day, Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly will be hosting Thanksgiving Dinner with all the trimmings at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church located at 2353 Badger Street in Marquette at 2:00 pm. We are inviting elderly friends 60 and older who have no family nearby and will be alone for the holiday. If you would like to attend please call 906.482.6944.
