BachFest Marquette

Marquette, MIOctober 19, 2018 – The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center and local musician Nancy Railey bring BachFest to Marquette. The festival will consist of several musical events during the fall season. A Lake Superior Piano Workshop Recital will be held Sunday, October 21 at 3:00 pm at Reynolds Recital Hall. Free admission, donation appreciated.

International Folk Dancing

Marquette, MIOctober 19, 2018 – The NMU International Dancers teach dances from all around the world. No experience or dance partner is necessary. International Folk Dancing is on Tuesday, October 23 at 7:15 at Dance Zone in Marquette. Lessons are free!

NMU Presents ‘Sweeney Todd’

Marquette, MIOctober 19, 2018 – Northern Michigan University’s Forest Roberts Theatre will present the dark and haunting musical Sweeney Todd in time for the Halloween season. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 -Saturday, Oct. 27 and Tuesday, Oct. 30-Saturday, Nov. 3. An additional 1 p.m. matinee is scheduled Nov. 3.

Sweeney Todd is based on the book by Hugh Wheeler, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. It was the winner of eight Tony Awards. The musical tells the unsettling tale of a Victorian-era barber who returns home to London after 15 years of exile to take revenge on the corrupt judge who ruined his life. When revenge eludes him, Sweeney swears vengeance on the entire human race, murdering as many people as he can, while his business associate Mrs. Lovett bakes the bodies into meat pies and sells them to the unsuspecting public.

Paul Truckey, former Broadway actor and NMU faculty member, will star in the lead role. He is joined by NMU students and community members. For the full cast listing, visit

Spooky Science Night!

Marquette, MIOctober 19, 2018 – Spooky Science Night is brought to you by Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum and NMU science clubs. Spooky Science Night will take place at the Children’s Museum in Downtown Marquette on October 26, 2018 from 6pm-8pm. The event is open to kids of all ages and admission is free!
