Pain Management Workshop Offered in Newberry Starting October 23

Newberry, MIOctober 16, 2018 – Do you live with pain that has lasted longer than 3-6 months? The Chronic Pain Self-Management program is a six week program that teaches practical skills for living with (or caring for someone with) any type of health condition that causes chronic pain, such as Fibromyalgia, Back Problems, Arthritis, Lupus. The program focuses on self-care, learning new strategies for managing pain, and gentle exercises to help manage pain. Group meets for 2 1/2 hours once a week.

The program will be held in at the Chippewa-Luce-Mackinac Community Action Agency in Newberry on Tuesdays, starting October 23rd from 12:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. There is no cost to attend. City of Negaunee Announces Community Contributions Grants Recipients

Negaunee, MI October 16, 2018 – City Manger Nate Heffron is pleased to announce the recipients of the Negaunee Community Contributions Grants; Negaunee Little League ($500) and Vista Theater ($1000). The donation was made possible through community relations funding from WPPI Energy, the not-for-profit wholesale power provider and joint action agency of which Negaunee is a member-owner. “WPPI knows how important it is to be a good stewards of the community, we are happy to be part of the great things happening in Negaunee”, Brett Niemi, Senior Energy Services Representative of WPPI said.
In total, $18, 611.00 have been given through this program since 2006. “This is a great way to give back to our local non-profits. Negaunee is blessed to have a variety of organizations that help to improve our quality of life everyday,” Heffron said.

In addition, the city will be changing how these funds are distributed. Starting June 2019, any non-profit organization within the city limits of Negaunee can pick up an application from the City Treasurer or online. More information will be released on the qualifications and the deadline for applications this spring.

Painting the Peninsula Pink Party October 19

Marquette, MIOctober 16, 2018 – Brookridge Heights is sponsoring the Superior Health Foundation’s (SHF) annual Painting the Peninsula Pink initiative to support the SHF breast health fund. Brookridge Heights hopes to help raise awareness for breast cancer as well as support survivors and those currently undergoing treatments.
