Rock On! with Lake Superior Agates Rock Show – September 8-9

Newberry, MI – This two-day agate event is one you will not want to miss. The show gives visitors the opportunity to view agate collections, rock cutting and polishing demonstrations and learn about the coveted Lake Superior agate from a wide range of presenters and vendors. The show provides an excellent learning opportunity as well as a chance to purchase specially-made items. This event is open to campers and day use visitors alike. If you are planning to camp, remember that reservations can be made six months in advance.

Soberfest Potluck – September 8

Houghton, MI – The Soberfest potluck offers an opportunity for people of all ages to enjoy live music, good food, and entertainment without alcohol or other addictive substances. Soberfest will be held at Ray Kestner Waterfront park in Houghton. There will be games for kids, and Chutes and Ladders is also available for play. Please bring a dish to pass if you can. All are welcome!

Warrior Walk to Prevent Suicide – September 8

L’Anse, MI – Support Baraga County Suicide Prevention by participating in the Warrior Walk hosted by Baraga County Communities That Care. 100 percent of the proceeds and donations raised will stay in Baraga County and will be used towards local  prevention and awareness programs.

Activities will begin at 10:00 at L’Anse Waterfront Park with a presentation by guest speaker Rebecca Tervo. The walk will begin at 11:00.  Additional information is located on the Baraga County CTC Facebook page and website.

2nd Annual ;5k Walk/Run – September 8

Sault Ste. Marie, MI – Walk, run or a little bit of both, it doesn’t matter! Join Hiawatha Behavioral Health for the 2nd Annual ;5k on September 8th! Proceeds to benefit the Chippewa County Suicide Prevention Committee.

We chose the ; (semicolon) as it is a familiar symbol for Suicide Prevention and has the added familiar quote: “A semicolon is used when an author could’ve chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to. The author is you and the sentence is your life.”

At 9:00 am, we will start the ;5k at the new Hiawatha Behavioral Health Psychosocial Clubhouse on the corner of Ashmun and Water Street and loop through the downtown area and back to the Clubhouse.
