Keweenaw Brewfest – August 26

Houghton, MI – The 2017 Annual Keweenaw Brewfest will be held August 26th, 2016 from 1-5 PM at the Kestner Waterfront Park (Chutes & Ladders) in Houghton. There will be over 50 different breweries represented with a total of over 200 different beers, hard ciders, and hard sodas. There will be live music from Bob Hiltunen and food from vendors, including Bonfire Grill, Captain Matt’s Fish n’ Chips, The Fitz, Suomi Restaurant, and Vollwerth’s, available for purchase. Attendees must be 21 to enter (ID required at the gate!).

Tickets are $30 if purchased before the event ($40 day of). A ticket will get the recipient a commemorative 6 oz glass and 12 drink tokens. Tickets are now available to purchase at the Keweenaw Community Foundation office (236 Quincy St., Hancock), at the Keweenaw Brewing Company tap room (408 Shelden Ave, Houghton), or on our website. Porcupine Mountains Music Festival – August 24-26

Ontonagon, MI – Come to the Porkies for our Annual Music Festival, with two stages, bands all weekend, a children’s tent and activities, and a hot food concession.

The festival will take place, under a big top canopy, rain or shine so bring an umbrella or poncho just in case. The average temperature in the area at this time of year is a high of 76 F and a low of 64 F, so dress for warm weather but bring a sweatshirt for the evening. The Porcupine Mountains Music Festival will be held at the Winter Sports Complex located within Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. Temporary, canopy covered stages will be set up at the base of the hill and several acres of open slope will be mowed and ready for your blankets and lawn chairs. Attendance is limited therefore a bad seat will not be found. Workshops will be conducted upon the event grounds and also inside the 20,000 square foot ski chalet. The restaurant located inside the ski chalet will offer a varied menu and will be open throughout the event. Absolutely no pets allowed – assistance/service dogs welcome.

North of the 45th Art Exhibition – August 24-28

Marquette, MI – Open to all residents of Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin living north of the 45th parallel. There is wiggle room for people within 1 degree of this area. Work in all media is welcome and there are no size limitations. Work previously exhibited at the museum is not eligible. All entries must be submitted by creating an account at There is a $20 fee to submit up to five images; the juror will select specific pieces for the exhibition based on these submissions.
