MISH Experience Paddle / Bike / Run Triathlon – August 25

Gladstone, MI – The MISH Experience is Extreme! Racers will begin the race on a kayak or paddleboard with a 3 mile open water PADDLE. Starting at the Terrace Bay hotel, the route will follow the Little Bay de Noc shoreline on Lake Michigan to the Gladstone Beach. Upon arrival at the beach, racers will transition to their bikes staged in Van Cleve Park. The BIKE portion of the race will take riders through the City of Gladstone and up to Rapid River along Bay Shore Drive. Returning back to Van Cleve Park, racers will dismount from their bikes and finish the last stretch of the race on foot. A 5K RUN will follow the Lake Michigan shoreline along the brand new waterfront non-motorized trail, finishing at the Terrace Bay Hotel.

Ottawa Visitor Center Presents: Birds of Prey and Wildlife Rehabilitation – August 16

Watersmeet, MI – At 7:00 P.M., you’ll learn what makes birds of prey unique in a real-life encounter with two of these birds (Ruby, a Red-tailed Hawk and Whisk, a Barred Owl). Mark Naniot from The Wild Instincts Team will also talk about human-caused wildlife injuries, and how to prevent them.

Marquette Trail 50 UltraMarathon – August 17-18

Marquette, MI – The course is mostly single-track, climbing the 4 peaks: Sugarloaf, Top-of-the-World, Bareback, and Hogback.

Much of the trail consists of moderate to difficult terrain, with significant climbs and technical areas.  According to Ultrarunning Magazine, the course is rated 3 out of 5 for Terrain (“Hilly”), and 4 out of 5 for Surface (“Trail with substantial rocks, roots and/or ruts”).

On Friday evening, we will also host a competitive 5K before the popular-must-watch children’s races 1M and 5K with special awards and shirts.  Friday races follow the North Country Trail.  The format is out-and-back.  This section of the trail is part of the “big loop” for the 50K and 50M.  Racers will enjoy single-track trails with short ascents and descents, along with technical areas with lots of rocks and roots.

Mackinac Bridge Antique Tractor Crossing – September 7-8

St. Ignace, MI – The Mackinac Bridge Antique Tractor Crossing on Mackinac Bridge will begin at 8:30 a.m. Hundreds of tractors will make this crossing!!! This year registration is capped at 1500 tractors, or August 15, whichever comes first. Tractors will be on display at Little Bear Arena after the crossing on Friday. Tractors on display all day Saturday at Little Bear Arena. Tractors must be a minimum of 40 years old. Tractor parade begins in Mackinaw City, parades across the bridge, through downtown St. Ignace, and ends at the Little Bear Arena, located at 275 Marquette Street. This includes (but is not limited to) lunch, concession stands, antique snowmobile show, hit ‘n miss engines on display, tractor games with prizes, raffle giveaways, a downtown tractor parade on Saturday afternoon, music and more!

Third Street Car Show – August 18

Marquette, MI – The Marquette Downtown Development Authority is collaborating with Third Base Bar to put on the inaugural “Classic Cars on Third Street” car show on Saturday, August 18. The car show will take place in Marquette’s Downtown District on North Third Street, between Ohio and Park Street. Registration is just $5 and takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.The show takes place from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., with awards at 3:00 p.m. Those wishing to enter a classic car should enter the car show area from Washington Street, heading north on Third Street to the corner of Ohio and Third Street, where the Show area starts.
