Lake Gogebic State Park – Finn Fest – August 11

Marenisco, MI – Join us at Lake Gogebic State Park to celebrate traditional Finnish and Upper Peninsula cultures! This is a gathering of families rooted in the Copper Country region of the U.P., but all are welcome to come and experience the culture and fun! Finn Fest is a family-focused weekend that has a long history in the park. Campers can expect the campground to be busy with children and families doing a variety of activities of their own choosing that are facilitated by the park. Activities include sing-a-longs, hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, kayaking and outdoor games. Event may be cancelled due to rain or hazardous weather conditions.

This event is free with your Michigan State Parks Recreation Passport and the public is welcome. A Michigan State Parks Recreation Passport is required for entry into Lake Gogebic State Park. Saginaw Bay Walleye Cup – August 10-11

Sault Ste. Marie, MI – Anglers gather from all over the state of Michigan to take part in the amazing Walleye fishing the St. Marys River has to offer. Register and get in on the action or join us Friday and Saturday to see the weigh-in. As a spectator, show up at 3:00 P.M. both days and watch the weigh-in for free as the teams roll off the St. Marys River at Aune-Osborn Park.

Artisans at the Forge – August 5

Negaunee, MI – At the Michigan Iron Industry Museum, Iron Range Artisans display and demonstrate traditional metalworking, woodworking, and textiles from the Industrial Age. To round out the weekend, we’ll also have period music, old-fashioned children’s games and guided tours of the Carp River Forge historic site.

1st Annual 906 Festival – August 4

Curtis, Mich.– Hosted by Erickson Center for the Arts, the 1st Annual “906 Festival” will be at the ECA this Saturday, August 4 from 11:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m.

The festival will include U.P. food, beer and wine, live music, art and retail vendors and entertainment acts, fun games and activities for both kids and adults, non-profit organization booths, demonstrations, and more!

U.P. culture and traditions will be center stage at the “906 Festival”. Everyone is welcome!
