Cholocay Township Precinct #2 Location Change for Next Week’s Primary

Marquette, MI  –  July 31, 2018  –  Primary Election Day is next Tuesday, August 7th. For Chocolay Township residents who vote in Precinct #2, the location has been moved. Previously, voters were to visit Prince of Peace Church, but now voters are being asked to appear at Silver Creek Church to case their vote in the Primary.

Silver Creek Church is located at 219 Silver Creek Road in Harvey. If you have any questions regarding the change in location, call the Chocolay Township Clerk’s office at  (906) 249-1448.

Keweenaw Alumni Chapter and Friends 5K Run/Walk for Scholarship – August 4

Houghton, MI – Join alumni and friends for a 5K Run/Walk on the Michigan Tech Trails. All proceeds go to support the Keweenaw Alumni and Friends Chapter Scholarship and the Michigan Tech Cross Country Team. The cost to participate is $15 in advance or $20 on the day of the event. The walk kicks off at 8:30 a.m. and the run at 9 a.m. on the Michigan Tech Trails. New this year – free 100 meter dash for children ages 6 and under will take place while final race results are calculated. Vietnam Moving Memorial Wall – August 2-6

Manistique, Mich.– The City of Manistique Recreation Department and the Schoolcraft County Veterans Affairs Board announce the Vietnam Moving Memorial Wall will visit Manistique in the Manistique August 2-6, 2018.

Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park – Everyone Can Write Poetry – August 12

Ontonagon, MI – Explore poetry as song and story-telling before learning how some major poets can be used as models for writing your own poems. Cost of class is $38.00. You will use park surroundings as writing prompts.The class will highlight Native American (Joy Harjo), Michigan (Jim Harrison) and Nature poets. Bring a notebook, laptop or tablet for writing. The Folk School does not have Wi-Fi. Please bring a lunch and a beverage.
