Marquette’s Fourth of July Planning Meeting – June 27

Marquette, Mi.– The Fourth of July planning meeting for the Marquette Fourth of July Celebration will be at the Marquette Chamber of Commerce this Wednesday, June 27, from 10:00- 11:00 a.m.

The committee is made up of the Exchange Club, Kiwanis, Rotary and Marquette Chamber members, but all community members interested in helping are welcome to attend.

Each organization heads up a part of the celebration:

  • Exchange Club – Food Fest
  • Kiwanis – Parade
  • Rotary – 50/50 for the Fireworks Endowment
  • Marquette Chamber – Fireworks Logistics and Fundraising

The Art of Wooden Boats – June 30

Marquette, MI – The Marquette Maritime Museum will be hosting a special event in conjunction with the City of Marquette Art Week. The event, The Art of Wooden Boats, will feature wooden boats on display on the lighthouse grounds, and owners of the boats will be there to give history and answer questions. The event will also feature demonstrations such as steam bending and canoe canvassing.

The event is free and open to the public, though those wishing to display a wooden boat should register with the Marquette Maritime Museum.
