Escanaba, Mi. – The Esky Oilers Monthly Hangout, hosted by Essentially Inspired Wellness, is at Pacinos Food & Spirits this Wednesday, May 9 from 6:00- 8:00 p.m.

This is a group of wellness-seekers that get together to laugh, eat, drink, and have some fun each month. Each month there is a fun theme, iTOVi scans, and a TON of oils to try.

Community Playgroups from Birth to 5 Program – May 9

Ishpeming, Mi.– Marquette-Alger Great Start Collaborative will host the Community Playgroups from birth to 5 program at Aspen Ridge Elementary School, Wednesday, May 9, from 10:00 a.m.- 11:30 a.m.

Bring your little one to join in on the fun and to play with other children in the community! There will be activities, storytime and snacks are provided.

Marquette, Mich.– The Marquette Regional History Center presents “Explosion!: Negaunee’s Nitro-Glycerine Tragedy” this Wednesday, May 9, from 6:30- 8:30 p.m.

Bill Van Kosky’s fast-paced narrative describes in vivid detail what happened when three careless workers were loading 4,800 lbs. of unstable explosives into a boxcar, and the evolution of mining technology during the nineteenth century.

Marquette Regional History Center to Present “Explosion!!” – May 9

Marquette, Mi. – The Marquette Regional History Center will present “Explosion!!” on Wednesday, May 9 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Center, 145 W. Spring Street in Marquette.

Hear about the events leading up to the explosion of a boxcar loaded with nitro-glycerin on a railroad siding west of Negaunee in 1878 and the tragic aftermath. Historian, Bill Van Kosky will be the presenter.
