Diabetes Workshop to Come to Ishpeming – April 30

Ishpeming, Mich.– The Diabetes PATH (Personal Action Towards Health) workshop is returning to Ishpeming beginning on April 30th.  The six-week class will meet on Tuesday’s from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Bell Hospital conference room, 901 Lakeshore Blvd, Ishpeming.

The workshop helps people living with daily challenges of diabetes, learn skills and tools needed to improve their health and manage their symptoms.  Subjects covered include symptoms of diabetes, stress, managing fatigue and emotional problems, exercise, healthy eating, medications, and working with healthcare providers.

Ace of Spades Progressive 50/50 Raffle – April 23

Gwinn, Mich.– The Ace of Spade Progressive 50/50 Raffle is presented by and at the Up North Lodge this Monday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Get your ticket throughout the week and see if you are a winner! Tickets are drawn every Monday.

The Game:

  • One ticket stub, that holds the winner’s name, contact information, and the number (1-54) that they picked, will be pulled. Depending on the number, a corresponding sealed envelope will be opened to reveal a card. If the card is the Ace of Spades, then the player wins half of the current jackpot! Any card is guaranteed to win at least $50 (some go as high as $300!).
  • If the Ace of Spades is not pulled, the balance rolls over to the next week’s drawing!

REST Training in Escanaba – April 23, 30

Escanaba, Mich. – U.P. Area Agency on Aging/UPCAP will offer REST Training on Monday, April 23 and Monday April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with time built in for lunch and breaks, at Menominee-Delta-Schoolcraft CAA, 507 First Avenue North in Escanaba. Attendance both days are required in order to receive certification as a REST companion. Sign in 15 minutes prior to class time.

Rest is an educational course that provides respite training to adults and teens who want to offer care to those in need and provide assistance to their caregivers. As a REST companion (volunteer or paid), you give the gift of your time to provide a valuable service.
