Spring Sing Concert by the Munising Vanguard Singers – April 21

Munising, Mich. – The Munising Vanguard Singers will be performing their Golden Anniversary Spring Sing concert on Saturday, April 21, 7:00 p.m. at the Mather Middle School Auditorium in Munising.

Join the Vanguards in celebrating 50 years of “Fellowship in Song.” Guest performers will include the Munising High School Chorus, and Don Miller and The Gospel Guys.

Local Author, Vickie Fee, to Give a Presentation – April 21

Ishpeming, Mich. – Local author Vickie Fee will give a presentation on Saturday, April 21, at 1 p.m. in the Leverton Community Room of the Carnegie Public Library in Ishpeming.

She will also be signing books, including her most recent release, “Til Death Do Us Party.” which
is book four in the popular Liv & Di in Dixie mystery series.

The public is encouraged to attend this free program sponsored by the Friends of the Library, who will provide light refreshments.

Alger County Animal Shelter Craft Show- April 21

Munising, Mi.– The Alger County Animal Shelter Spring 2018 Vendor/Craft Show will be at in the Alger Parks & Recreation Dept. this Saturday, April 21 from 10:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.

This is a spring fundraiser for the shelter hosting a Vendor/Craft show with a Bake Sale and Raffle. New Spring and Summer products will be on sale!

Marquette Coffee Crawl – April 21

Marquette, Mich. – Starting at NMU, there will be a Coffe Crawl through Marquette this Saturday, April 21, from 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.

For all of you coffee connoisseurs out there in Marquette County, NMU PRSSA is featuring seven local coffee shops:

  • Cafe Allenatore
  • Contrast Coffee Co.
  • Cruise-N-Coffee
  • Dead River Coffee
  • Java Bay
  • Velodrome Coffee Company

Try samples, meet new people, and venture around the city! Crawlers can embark at their own pace and participants will receive a bottle of water to cleanse their palettes between venues.

All of the proceeds from the crawl will be donated to the Women’s Center in Marquette in support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (#SAAM).

Saturday Morning Yoga – April 21

Munising, Mi. – Hosted by Yoga Borealis, Saturday Morning Yoga will be at the Alger Parks & Recreation Department this Saturday, April 21 from 10:30- 11:45 a.m.

Starting off with a general morning practice, this mixed level class will have students practicing basic yoga poses, sun salute, moon salute, basic breathing techniques, and short meditation.

Gwinn, Mich.– Hosted by U.P. PINK POWER, a 17 Mile FUNdraising Walk will start at the Tall Timber Grocery in Gwinn this Saturday, April 21 at 10:00 a.m.

This walk is from Tall Timbers to Knotty Pine and there will be lunch and pit stops along the way! Walk, run, or bike.

If you raise $100 in pledges, you receive a walk shirt! All proceeds go to U.P. PINK POWER to help those in need.

Marquette Symphony Orchestra to Perform – April 21

Fantastic Tales, Sumptuous Melodies

Marquette, Mich.– The Marquette Symphony Orchestra’s last performance of the season will be held in the Kaufman Auditorium of NMU this Saturday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m.

Octavio Mas-Arocas will conduct this last performance. He served as the Music Director and Conductor of the Mansfield Symphony in Ohio, as well as Director of Orchestras at Ithaca College, New York. Previously, he has served as the Director of Orchestral Studies and Associate PRofessor of Conducting at the Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of music, Director of Orchestral Studies at Lawrence University, and principal conductor of the Green Bay Symphony.
