Gonzo Media Screens “Weekend” – April 19

Marquette, Mi.– NMU’s Gonzo Media student organization will host a screening of “Weekend” this Thursday, April 19, at 9:00 p.m. in 165 Art and Design.

“Weekend” tells the story of a married couple on a weekend trip to the countryside to visit the wife’s dying father. The couple intended on securing the inheritance, resorting to murder if necessary. The trip turns into a nightmare of accidents, terrorism and civil war.

The movie is rated R and has a run time of 105 minutes.

Free for NMU students and $1 for the public.

Campfire Under the Stars – April 19

Marquette, Mich.– The Shiras Planetarium hosts ‘Campfire Under the Stars’ this Thursday, April 19, from 5:00 p.m.- 5:45 p.m.

This show is intended for our youngest visitors! This session will start with a quick tour of the planetarium about the equipment inside and what happens in a planetarium. Each guest is given a glow stick (while supplies last) and the stars are put on the dome. The director will answer questions and read a story.

This is the perfect first visit for young explorers! Approximately 30 min. limited to 20 children and their parents.

Iron Mountain Career Panel Luncheon for NMU Students – April 19

Marquette, Mi.– NMU’s College of Business will host an Iron Mountain Career Panel Luncheon for NMU Students, from any major, in the Brule Room of NMU’s University Center this Thursday, April 19, from 12:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m.

The event includes a free lunch and a discussion of career opportunities while business owners from Iron Mountain are present. “…Iron Mountain area is the hottest economic area in the U.P., with more than 600 current job openings for all industries,” said David Tayome, dean of NMU’s College of Business.

Guest panelists include Tom Andes of the Thomas Theatre Group; Raphael Bennett of Neustep; Erik Kleiman of Kleiman Pump and Well Drilling; Jesse Land of Upper Peninsula Machine and Engineering; Carol Quandt of 41 Lumber; David Brisson of Great American Disposal; and Lois Ellis of Dickinson Area Economic Development Alliance.
