Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon Laser Light Show – April 18

Marquette, Mich.– The Shiras Planetarium will be hosting ‘Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon’ Laser Light show this Wednesday, April 18, from 7:45 p.m.- 8:30 p.m.

This event is a fundraiser for the Shiras Planetarium. Enjoy the amazing showcase of a 360˚ x 180˚ full-color solid-state laster projection system specifically designed for planetarium domes and set to play with Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” to create an overall dramatic and haunting atmosphere.

Wine Wednesday! – April 18

Marquette, Mich.– Wine Wednesday is hosted by the American Legion Post 44 in Marquette this Wednesday, Aprill 18, from 3:00 p.m.- 11:00 p.m.

Come check out the selection of wines and meet fun people! Bring your friends for a glass or two to this re-occurring event every Wednesday until May 2.

If you’re not a member already, join the Legion so you can buy some wine and mingle!

“No Letting Go” to be Screened at NMU – April 19

Marquette, Mi. – “No Letting Go” will be screened in Jamrich Room 1322 this Thursday, April 19, from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Pathways, PEST and NMU’s Social Work Department are inviting the community to join them for a free showing of the movie “No Letting Go.”This movie is about “a poignant yet elevating drama about a young boy’s mental illness and how it shapes the course of his life, as well as the lives of his family member.”

Fourth of July Planning Meeting – April 18

Marquette, Mi.– The Fourth of July planning meeting for the Marquette Fourth of July Celebration will be at the Marquette Chamber of Commerce this Wednesday, April 18, from 10:00- 11:00 a.m.

The committee is made up of the Exchange Club, Kiwanis, Rotary and Marquette Chamber members, but all community members interested in helping are welcome to attend.

Each organization heads up a part of the celebration:

  • Exchange Club – Food Fest
  • Kiwanis – Parade
  • Rotary – 50/50 for the Fireworks Endowment
  • Marquette Chamber – Fireworks Logistics and Fundraising

Community Playgroups from Birth to 5 Program- April 18

Ishpeming, Mi.– Marquette-Alger Great Start Collaborative will host the Community Playgroups from birth to 5 program at Aspen Ridge Elementary School, Wednesday, April 18, from 10:00 a.m.- 11:30 a.m.

Bring your little one to join in on the fun and to play with other children in the community! There will be activities, storytime and snacks are provided.

This is a free ongoing event (every Wednesday) until May 16.
