Beginner’s Guide to AcroYoga: Level 1&2 – April 15

Marquette, Mich.– Rohana Yoga & Wellness will host a beginner’s guide to ActoYoga for levels 1 & 2 this Sunday, April 15 from 1:30- 3:00 p.m.

AcroYoga, also called partner yoga, consists of a series of held postures, each partner using strength and flexibility to support the other. It combines fun partner play with health benefits such as building core and muscle strength, kinesthetic awareness, flexibility, and relaxation.

Challenge yourself in a safe environment with Moiré & her partner Jess as they give you step-by-step instruction.

East Entrance of Spring Street Parking Lot to be Closed

Marquette, Mich.04/12/2018–  The east entrance of the Spring Street Parking Lot off of Spring Street in Downtown Marquette will be closed beginning Friday morning, April 13, 2018, in preparation for Ore Dock Brewing Company’s Festival of the Angry Bear event. The parking lot will remain open, with the west entrance on Spring Street accessible until 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The West Baraga Avenue entrance will be accessible at all times.

As a reminder, Spring Street will be closed beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018, reopening Sunday morning, April 15, 2018.

Spring Pop Up Shop at Wawonowin – April 15

Marquette, Mich.– Wawonowin Country Club will have a Spring Pop Up Shop, hosted by RE: Home- Kate LaFave, this Sunday, April 15 from 1:00- 5:00 p.m.

Join the club for a fun-filled day of shopping, drinks, snacks, and creativity! A number of vendors including Yooper Goddess, Get UP, Stacy Busch Lula Roe, and more will have their best items available for you to shop in an intimate setting. The bar will be open for your enjoyment.

Kate LaFave will be offering sign design on-site- a perfect gift to give or keep!

New Moon Cacao Ceremony – April 15

Marquette, Mich.– The Marquette Yoga and Ayurveda Center will be putting on the New Moon Cacao Ceremony, hosted by Bright Star Astrology & Healing Arts, this Sunday from 12:00- 2:00 p.m.

The first new moon of the astrological new year, the ARIES New Moon, is this Sunday. Join with others for a supportive, renewing ceremony and sharing of ceremonial Cacao- rich superfood drinking chocolate. Cacao is said to bring bliss, multi-level healing, and the dissolving of barriers to truer self- expression, and creativity when shared in meditation.

Cost: $15/person (via PayPal in advance; other arrangements may be made by contacting Jen, but PayPal is preferred).

What to bring:

  • A journal for writing or sketching intentions, and writing/drawing supplies.
  • Water for rehydration

Diabetes Workshop Coming to Laurium, April 19

Laurium, Mich.– The Diabetes PATH (Personal Action Towards Health) workshop is returning to Laurium beginning on April 19th. The workshop helps people living with daily challenges of diabetes, learn skills and tools needed to improve their health and manage their symptoms.  Subjects covered include: symptoms of diabetes, stress, managing fatigue and emotional problems, exercise, healthy eating, medications, and working with healthcare providers.

Music Concert to Benefit Presbytery Point – April 15

Ishpeming, Mi. – The United Presbyterian Church in Ishpeming will be hosting a music concert to benefit Presbytery Point this Sunday, April 15, from 2:30- 3:30 p.m.

Local Musicians will provide music selections such as the piano, voice, strings, xylophone, woodwind, organ, barbershop quartet, and Friends of Faith singers (smaller group of Seedsowers) to benefit campers of the 2018 season at Presbytery Point Camp.

Light refreshments to be served in the Church Hall following the concert.

Sensory-Friendly Performance of the Musical “Tarzan” – April 15

April 12, 2018

Marquette, Mi. – A modified performance of the musical “Tarzan” will be offered on Sunday, April 15 at 2 p.m. in the Forest Roberts Theatre at Northern Michigan University.

This modified performance is geared toward children and adults who are on the autism spectrum or have sensory issues. The goal is to preserve the entertainment value of the show so families can enjoy it together while also creating a supportive environment.

Free admission is made possible through private donor support. FRT has partnered with the Theatre Development Fund in New York City to produce this “Theater for All” performance.
