Feeding America Truck in Ishpeming – April 4

Ishpeming, Mich. – The Feeding America Truck mobile food pantry will be open for food distribution on Thursday, April 4 beginning at 9:30. a.m. at CrossBridge Church, 119 N. Third Street in Ishpeming.

Anyone who needs food is welcome. Please bring a sturdy container, such as a laundry basket, with you. Also, bring someone to carry your food if needed. Please do not arrive prior to 8 a.m. to allow for snow removal from the parking lot.

Little Bookworms for 5’s and 6’s – April 4

Marquette, Mi. – Little Bookworms for 5s and 6s will be offered on Wednesday, April 4 from 11 a.m. to noon in the Youth Atrium of the Peter White Public Library.

There will be stories, songs, school-readiness art, and pre-literacy skills for children ages 5 to 6. The event is free.

“Little Red Walking Hood” Opera Experience for Elementary-Aged Children – April 4

Marquette, Mi. – Northern Michigan University’s music department will host “Little Red Walking Hood,” an opera experience for elementary-aged children, on Wednesday, April 4 at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Reynolds Recital Hall at NMU.

In the production, Little Red walks, then runs, into trouble on her trip through the woods. The wicked Wolf turns on the charm and tries to waltz her away from her common sense, but Little Red discovers that stories and advice from older people can be very worthwhile. The show is set to music from “The Merry Widow” by Franz Lehar.

This children’s opera is presented by students in NMU’s opera theater workshop class and is free of charge. It is approximately 45 minutes long. Individuals of all ages are welcome to attend the production. For more information, contact NMU’s music department at 227-2563.

Storytime for 1’s and 2’s – April 4, 5

April 1, 2018

Marquette, Mich. – Storytime for 1s and 2s will be held Wednesday, April 4 and Thursday, April 5 from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. in the Youth Atrium of the Peter White Public Library.

There will be interactive stories, songs, rhymes, and activities for ages 18 months to 35 months, with a loving adult. The event is free.

Rangers Read for Ages 3-7, April 4

Marquette, Mi. – Rangers Read will be held on Wednesday, April 4 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Youth Atrium of the Peter White Public Library.

Join the Park Rangers from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore for a story, an opportunity to create a craft, and play active games. The event is geared to families with young children ages 3 to 7.

“Magnificent Mansions & Courtly Cottages” Presentation – April 4

Gwinn, Mich. – The Forsyth Township Historical Society will present “Magnificent Mansions & Courtly Cottages” on Wednesday, April 4 at 7 p.m. at the Gwinn Clubhouse, 165 North Maple Street in Gwinn.

The program will feature historic stories about public buildings, churches, and homes across the Upper Peninsula as presented by author, Sonny Longtine. A brief business meeting will precede the presentation.

The program is open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free to society members and students and $2 for others.
