Marquette – Bluesday Tuesday: Movie Night will offer a screening of “Lightning in a Bottle” on Tuesday, February 27 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.

Marquette – Northern Michigan University’s Beta Alpha Psi will offer free income tax return assistance to students and community members on Tuesday, February 27 and Thursday, March 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Trading Lab in the University Center at NMU.

Volunteers from NMU’s Beta Alpha Psi organization are certified through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. The program will be offered every Tuesday and Thursday through April 12, with the exception of spring break week from March 5 through 9. … Read the rest

Marquette – The Cold War Film Series will present a screening of “Three Days of the Condor” on Tuesday, February 27 at 7 p.m. in the Seminar Room of the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center at Northern Michigan University.

Cold War paranoia and the public’s right to know are hallmarks of this 70’s spy thriller which runs for 1 hour and 58 minutes. The Beaumier Center exhibition on the Cold War will be open prior to the film until 6:45 p.m. The film will be presented by Beaumier Center director, Daniel Truckey, and will be followed by a discussion.

Northern Michigan University’s Forest Roberts Theatre and Dance Announced its 2018-19 Season

Marquette, Michigan – Northern Michigan University’s Forest Roberts Theatre and Dance announced its 2018-19 lineup of plays, dance events and other activities during its recent Halfway Party. More details will be announced closer to each event, but an overview of the schedule follows:

Season Premiere Party, Aug. 30: A red-carpet season kickoff featuring Alpha Psi Omega, the First Nighters Club, FRT faculty and an ice cream social sponsored by Jilbert’s Dairy. This free event is designed for students and community members to learn more about the opportunities available at FRT.

Auditions, Sept. 7-9: Open auditions will be held for the 2018-19 season. Come prepared with 90 seconds of a song or monologue, or two contrasting monologues.

Guest Performance, Sept. 28-30: FRT will bring a national act to its stage, similar to when The Second City performers visited in 2013.… Read the rest
