Negaunee – A beef stew dinner fundraiser will be held on Saturday, January 20 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at VFW Post 3165 on Gold Street in Negaunee.

The menu will include homemade beef stew, salad, biscuits, assorted desserts and coffee. Tickets are $8. All proceeds go to the VFW 3165 Auxiliary, which supports veterans and their families. The public is welcome. … Read the rest

Calendar – Music – “This Land is Our Land” Concert Celebrating Land and Water – Jan. 20

L’Anse – The Keweenaw Land Trust will host a live music event featuring the band White Water on Saturday, January 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the American Legion in L’Anse.

The event theme is “This Land is Our Land” and will include music and storytelling in celebration of our local landscape.

Admission to the event is $15 per adult or $25 for two adults. Admission for children under 12 is $8. The family-friendly event is a fundraiser for land conservation and stewardship projects in Baraga County.

Calendar – Benefits/Fundraisers – Mid U.P. Chapter of Ruffed Grouse 25th Anniversary Conservation and Sportsmen’s Banquet – Jan. 20

Marquette – The Mid U.P. Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society will host its 25th Anniversary Conservation and Sportsmen’s Banquet on Saturday, January 20 beginning with social hour at 5 p.m. in the University Center at Northern Michigan University.

Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. The evening will feature a live and silent auction, games, drawings and door prizes,featuring the finest selection of quality firearms, artwork and collectables.

Individual membership and dinner tickets are $60. There is also a membership and spouse package for $85, which includes two dinners, and a junior membership and dinner ticket is $30 for those 17 and under. Proceeds from this event will be used to enhance habitat for ruffed grouse, American woodcock and other forest wildlife.
