Iron Mountain – The Teddy Bear Toss will be held on Thursday, November 30 at 6 p.m. C.S.T. during the Kingsford High School hockey game at Mountain View Ice Arena, 400 E Hughitt Street in Iron Mountain.

Kingsford will be playing Jeffers. Admission is only $1 for attendees bringing a new stuffed animal donation to toss out onto the ice when announced. All stuffed toy donations will go to local area emergency responders and crisis centers.… Read the rest

This annual reception fundraiser on behalf of Area 36 Special Olympics includes food donations from area restaurants with a short program presentation and awards.

Marquette – The comedy show, “The Roast of Bill Digneit” will be offered on Thursday, November 30 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Red Room Theater of the U.P. Masonic Lodge, 128 West Washington Street, Marquette.

This is the Hospitality House of the Upper Peninsula’s annual autumn fundraiser. The comedy roast will raise operating costs for Beacon House, whose mission is to provide access to medical care for patients and their families in crisis. Beacon House has provided over 200,000 nights to guests commuting to UPHS for treatment.

$35 tickets are available through EventBrite at upbh.org/roast. The purchase includes one drink ticket, and some of Bill’s favorite late-night snacks catered by DIG’s. The evening includes a silent and live auction. All proceeds benefit Beacon House. … Read the rest

Houghton – U.P. Area Agency on Aging/UPCAP will offer REST Training on Thursday, November 30 and Friday, December 1 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Copper Country Mental Health Institute, 900 West Sharon Avenue in Houghton. Attendance both days are required in order to receive certification as a REST companion. Sign in 15 minutes prior to class time.

Rest is an educational course that provides respite training to adults and teens who want to offer care to those in need and provide assistance to their caregivers. As a REST companion (volunteer or paid), you give the gift of your time to provide a valuable service. As a REST trained companion/respite provider you will spend one-on-one time with an adult or senior, giving only as much time as you are willing and able to give. Marquette – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will offer a trip to Escape Marquette on Thursday, December 7 from 2 to 3 p.m. in suite L-4 of the Masonic Building in on W. Washington Street in downtown Marquette.

Escape Marquette is a team-based, skill-building game where players decode clues, piece together puzzles and solve riddles to achieve one goal: escape the room in 60 minutes.
