Calendar – Food – “The Dragon’s Delight” Dinner at NMU – Nov. 15

Marquette – The Northern Michigan University hospitality and tourism management program will host a five-course themed dinner “The Dragon’s Delight” on Wednesday, November 15 in Chez Nous at the NMU Jacobetti Complex. Seating times are at 4:30, 5:15 and 6:30 p.m.

The menu focuses on Far East dishes including spiced-anko Japanese dumplings and a choice of teriyaki-glazed salmon or a sesame chicken vegetable stir-fry. The dinner will conclude with a matcha cotton cheesecake with house made whipped cream and candied pistachios. Non-alcoholic beverages are included.

Marquette – Jennifer Newsom will present “Women & Girls in the Media: If You Can See It, You
Can Be It” on Wednesday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Jamrich 1100 at Northern Michigan University.

Jennifer Siebel Newsom is a filmmaker, CEO, advocate, and leader. She wrote, directed, and produced the 2011 award-winning documentary, “Miss Representation”. Her second film as a director, “The Mask You Live In”, explores how America’s narrow definition of masculinity is harming boys, men, and society at large. She is also the executive producer of “The Invisible War” and for the documentary, “The Hunting Ground”.

Marquette – “The Continuing Evolution of the Humboldt Pit: From Open Pit Mine to Flooded Pit to Tailings Disposal Facility to Integrated Watershed” will be offered on Wednesday, November 15 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Huron Room of the University Center at Northern Michigan University.

This free presentation with Devin Castendyk will address the evolution of water quality at the Humboldt Tailings Disposal Facility. The event is sponsored by Eagle Mine and hosted by NMU’s Chemistry Department.
