Marquette – The Marquette Mountain Racing Team will hold their annual Winter Sports Gear Swap on Saturday, October 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Marquette Mountain. Purchase an early bird ticket for $10 and shop at 9 a.m.

Downhill and X-C Ski equipment, snowboards and clothing will be available. Drop off will be on October 20 from noon to 6 p.m. A 20% commission supports MMRT junior racing program. Tickets available at The Mountain Shop, The Compound and Downwind Sports. Kids 15 and under free with adult.

Marquette – In celebration of International Archaeology Day, the 5th Annual Archaeology Fair will be held on Saturday, October 21 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Marquette Regional History Center, 145 W. Spring Street in Marquette.

International Archaeology Day will be celebrated throughout the world on this day. Spend a fun afternoon learning all about archaeology through hands-on activities, demonstrations, artifacts and displays at many interactive booths throughout the entire museum. Meet regional experts and see what is being discovered in the Upper Peninsula region.

The Fair is included with the cost of general admission. 
This is a great event for families, clubs, scouts, and all ages. Museum admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, $3 for students and $2 for youth 12 and under.

Marquette – The Marquette County Quilters’ Association 2017 Autumn Comforts Quilt Show will be held on Saturday, October 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, October 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center at Northern Michigan University.

There will be over 300 quilts on display. Quilters from across the Marquette County region, as well as those from other areas will be proudly displaying a variety of quilts and related items. Marquette – The Northern Michigan University music department will host a concert featuring Kardemimmit on Saturday, October 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Reynolds Recital Hall on the NMU campus. This free concert is part of the Beaumier Folk Music Series.

Kardemimmit is a Finnish folk group consisting of four women who play the kantele, the Finnish national instrument. The group’s original pieces take a modern approach to traditional Finnish, Eastern European and Scandinavian music. The group was founded in 1999 and has released four albums.
