Baraga – –The Second Annual Baraga County Beer Fest will take place on Saturday, October 7 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Waterfront Park on North Front Street in L’Anse.

This event will be held rain or shine and will highlight brews from Shorts Brewing, Lagunitas, Great Lakes Brewery, Tripelroot Brewery, and Cognition Brewery. For the wine lovers, Algomah Acres Honey House Meadery will be on hand to deliver wine tastings. There will also be food vendors available.

Tickets are $35 at the door. The Baraga County Beer Fest is a fundraiser for the Baraga Chamber of Commerce. The funds are used to support community events… Read the rest

Calendar – Music – Concert with Sean Gaskell – Oct. 7

Marquette – An afternoon concert for all ages with Sean Gaskell will be offered on Saturday, October 7 at 3 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.

Gaskell will give a performance and educational demonstration on the Kora, an ancient 21-stringed harp from West Africa. He will feature traditional songs that are the heart and soul of the Kora’s musical repertoire in addition to some of his own personal compositions.

MarquetteThis event is cancelled due to inclement weather. However, the U.P. Children’s Museum chalk painting competition will take place in the Westwood Mall from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday. Register at the event. The event is free.

The 5th annual Baraga Avenue Harvest Fest will take place on Saturday, October 7, from 3 to 8 p.m. on the 100 block of Baraga Avenue in downtown Marquette.

It will be bustling with harvest-themed activities for all ages, food and drink, live music, a street dance, children’s activities and much more. There will be pasty eating contest. The younger set is invited to explore large equipment, emergency response vehicles and construction trucks at the “big truck petting zoo”, and there will be a live animal petting zoo.

The Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum will sponsor a chalk art exhibition and contest featuring street-canvas harvest-themed paintings by local artists, individuals and groups.… Read the rest
