Baraga – The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Office of Violence Against Women in partnership with the Baraga County Shelter Home is hosting a community-wide event to “kick-off” October— National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. “Niimigiimiwan” Dancing In The Rain will be held on Saturday, September 30 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Niiwin Akeaa Recreational Facility in Baraga.

There will be a Domestic violence Awareness Walk at 11 a.m. Small Group Workshops, a Feast, a prize raffle, 50/50 raffle and guest speaker Star Nayea will be part of the event. Feel free to bring a dish to pass for the feast.

Munising – The Eric Beverly Foundation “Stake the Lake” Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, September 30 beginning at 10 a.m. at Bayshore Park in Munising.

Stake the Lake is all about celebrating the spirit of survivors and honoring the memory of loved ones who have been touched by cancer. You can register to walk as well as decorate a garden stake to celebrate or honor a special person in your life. The first 200 walkers to register will receive a free Stake the Lake t-shirt!
The personalized stakes will line the bay beginning at Bayshore Park.

Negaunee – Explore Tech: TV Production! will be offered on Saturday, September 30 from 10 a.m. to noon at TV6 Fox Negaunee.

Take an in-depth tour of the TV6 station and set, be in front of the green screen, see a virtual set built, read from the teleprompter, sit at the news desk and more at this exciting program on TV production and the technology and engineering needed to produce the news!

This is a by registration program. The first tour starts at 10 a.m. in the TV6 Fox Neguanee parking lot and is for children 7 and under with a parent. The second tour starts at 11 a.m. and is for youth 8 and up, preferably without the parent participating in the tour. Please arrive for your tour 15 minutes early.
