MarquettePsychologist Mary Pelton-Cooper will give a presentation titled “Psychotherapy with People on the Autism Spectrum: A Clinician’s Perspective” on Friday, September 22 at 3 p.m. in 1322 Jamrich Hall at Northern Michigan University.

Pelton-Cooper, who has a private practice, will discuss the challenges and rewards of treating people with mild Autism Spectrum Disorder. She will also report on the LifeMAP life management assistance program she attended at the Asperger’s Autism Network in Boston, Massachusetts. Marquette – LEGO Club will meet on Friday, September 22 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Youth Atrium of the Peter White Public Library.

LEGO Club is for ages 5 and up. Listen to stories and work with others to build Lego projects. LEGOs are provided and the event is free. NMU Hosts College Fair Sept. 20

Marquette, Michigan – Northern Michigan University will host a College Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 20, in the University Center Great Lakes Rooms. The program will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. to and is open to all high school juniors, seniors and their parents. Representatives from about 40 colleges and universities, including several out-of- state schools, will answer questions about their academic programs, costs, support services and campus life.

The Armed Forces and ROTC programs will also be represented. NMU’s Financial Aid Office staff members will be available to answer questions about the financial aid process.

New this year is the ability of students to pre-register for the event online. By pre-registering, students will only have to input their information once and be able to share personal information with multiple college reps by scanning a barcode. The Marquette Regional History Center Special Exhibit Hosts Great Girls in Michigan History September 20 Thru October 18

Marquette, MI – This exhibit will be celebrating nine girls from across Michigan including a wrestler, an activist and a soldier who did great things before they turned twenty. Upper Peninsula girls Nancy Harkness Love, Copper Country aviator during World War II, and Jane Johnston Schoolcraft, Ojibwe creative writer and translator, are featured. This traveling exhibit was created by the Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame. Sponsored by Zonta Club of Marquette.
