Calendar – Education – College Fair at NMU – Sept. 20

Marquette – A College Fair will be held on Wednesday, September 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the University Center Great Lakes Rooms at Northern Michigan University.

The program is open to all high school juniors, seniors and their parents. Representatives from about 40 colleges and universities, including several out-of- state schools, will answer questions about their academic programs, costs, support services and campus life.

The Armed Forces and ROTC programs will also be represented. NMU’s Financial Aid Office staff members will be available to answer questions about the financial aid process.

New this year is the ability of students to pre-register for the event online. By pre-registering, students will only have to input their information once and be able to share personal information with multiple college reps by scanning a barcode. Ishpeming – Marquette County Solid Waste Management Authority will hold an electronics recycling event on Wednesday, September 20 from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Westwood High School parking lot, 300 Westwood Drive in Ishpeming.

Items accepted for recycling include all computer and related items, laptops, tablets, printers, televisions (CRT and flat screen only), computer monitors (CRT and flat screen only), scanners, fax machines, cell phones, DVD players, CD players, and stereo equipment. Projection TV’s cannot be accepted due to space limitations.

This is a free event, but please consider making a monetary donation to the Feeding America Food Bank on the day of the event. … Read the rest

Youth ages preschool to 8th grade are eligible to audition. Youth actors, singers, gymnasts and dancers are all needed for a variety of parts. Youth must complete a Vocal/Acting audition.
